Mersey and Irwell Group First Meeting

The first group meeting took place on Saturday August the 10th, with seven of us coming and a good day of modelling and conversation was had by all.

Manchester MRS's Dean Hall has room both for us to set up several tables and also a test track.

I was able to give my converted Hunslet 0-6-0 diesel shunter a good run in too whilst there, here it is posed in front of a few other converted locos -

This first meeting was judged a success, and the next meeting was decided on for November 9th, again at Dean Hall.

Next time will be another show, tell and do meeting with future meetings taking place on the second Saturday of odd-numbered months through out 2025.

Welcome and Notice of First Meeting

Welcome to the new Mersey and Irwell Area Group's website, as with the other area groups this will show what the group gets up to at meetings.

Our first meeting will be on Saturday August 10th between 12pm and 5pm, at Manchester Model Railway Society's Dean Hall, on Mersey Road in Sale, postcode M33 6HL. This is just off the A56, about 1/2 mile south of Junction 7 of the M60.

Limited on-site parking is available round the back of Dean Hall, on-street parking  is also available nearby.

This initial meeting will be in the 'show and tell' format, and as it is the first meeting there will also be introductions and discussion of further meetings and how the group will be organised. A circular test track will be available, as well as tables if you wish to work on anything. Refreshments are also available at a minimal cost.
